The twins were about to become a trio. In December 2008, I was given a homework assignment to create the box art for a video game. The videogame had to be related to American History, because it was for that class- 'till this day, it's been one of my favorite homework assignments. I knew I wanted the box art to revolve around the twins and Manfire. I just needed a concept.
I had been learning about the constitution, and all it's layers in class. Manfire wanted to take over the world. "What better way to start taking over the world than by destroying the American constitution and re-writing it," that's what I thought back then. I know it's not that simple, but it's a start.
I had all one weekend to work on this project. I wanted to get really creative, and swim in an ocean of creativity. I got creative the best way I knew how, creating a new character.
I had an image in my mind; an image of me fighting along side the twins with the powers of my mind. It was something I had to draw. I could not move forward with my life, if I did not draw that image. So, I drew it.
At the age of 13, I still wasn't happy with my appearance. I once again drew a character that represented what I wanted to look like, and not what I actually looked like. I drew Phoenix, the most powerful hero of all (Phoenix because of my love for Jean Grey). Phoenix had straight blond hair, a button nose, he was tall, had a six-pack, and my green eyes. I was Phoenix, Phoenix was me. We were the same person, with different circumstances.
The twins had recruted a new member, and it was me. Together they would stop Manfire from destroying the constitution. The twins and Phoenix had become the Teen Heroes, but they weren't done recruiting members.
