"Oh my gosh Red, I met a boy, and he's so handsome! Well, he's not a boy, he's practically a man, a young man. I met a young man." Then Red interrupted me to drown me in questions.
"Wait, what? Where? What's his name? How'd you meet him? How old is he? How'd you meet someone already? You left the castle just over an hour ago." I had to stop her before she melted my brain.
"Red, stop! One thing at a time please!" Red, then calmly asked me her questions.
"Okay Amora, What's his name?"
"How old is he?"
"25-ish? I don't know. I didn't ask."
"Okay, the big one, when and how?"
"Well, after I left I went into town. I walked around for a bit, but it didn't take long for people to swarm in on me. You know me; I can't be in a crowd. It was too stressful, so I hit the crowd with a telepathic blast to confuse them, and made a run for it. Actually, I flew away. I realized I wasn't going to be able to walk around the city and be, like, 'Hello, I'm Amora. What's your name? I think you're cute. Want to go out to dinner?' So, I flew into the forest. There are plenty of houses in Fairy Hills. Boys live in houses, I figured I'd see one eventually, and I did. I didn't even have to look for more than, like, 10 minutes. I was flying up and down all around, and in between a lot of tall trees just to get to the top of some hill. Then, when I got to the top, I saw this teeny-tiny house, but it was only teeny-tiny because it was all the way at the bottom. As I flew down, I was able to see better. The house was blocky, had a red brick roof, the walls were a light creamy color, it had a large stone fence all around it, and a pool in the back yard. The house was difficult to see with all the trees around it. Some were part of the forest, but most were planted, probably for privacy. Most importantly, it had a boy swimming in the pool. I didn't want him to see me. I wanted to get a good look at him before he realized I was there. I landed, creeped in slowly, and stalked him like a lioness. I could see him swimming laps, speeding from one side of the pool to the other. Then, he got out to check his phone. He was wearing a red speedo, and I could see his entire body. Oh my gosh Red, he's so ripped! I just wanted to go over and touch every inch of his body."
"Wait? Did you actually meet him? Or did you just stare at him?" Red, so rudely interrupted me.
"No Red, I actually met him. I haven't gotten there yet; take a chill pill. I did stare at him for a while. I didn't know what to do. I wanted to go introduce myself, but I didn't know what to say. Should I have just been honest and said something like, 'Hello, I'm Amora. I've been casually staring at you for the past 15 minutes, and I think you're hot. Would you like to go on a date with me?' I didn't say that, but I thought about it. Eventually I made it to the bottom of the hill, and I was just watching him through a bitty hole in the fence's door. After a while, I built up the courage to knock on the door. He got out of the pool and started walking towards the door. My heart was going a bajillion miles per hour. I freaked out, and I hid behind some bushes. He opened the door, looked around, but he didn't see me. I think he thought my knocking was an animal or something. He closed the door, and I went back to the hole to stare some more. I was just building up courage to talk to him, but nothing I thought about motivated me enough. It wasn't until I saw he was going inside that I yelled, 'Wait!' I gasped, covered my mouth, and took cover behind the fence. I thought, 'Maybe if don't move he'd think he imaged it.' It didn't work. He walked over, opened the door and said, 'Hello, Beautiful.' I just thought,
‘Thank God he thinks I’m beautiful.’ Then he was like,
'Was that you who knocked on the door earlier?' I was speechless so all I said was,
'Uh-hu.' I slowly got up, and he got a good look at me.
'Queen Amora?' He asked me. Of course I responded awkwardly,
'Yes, sorry I wanted to talk to you, but I just didn't know how not to be weird.' He laughed, and I saw his paper white teeth. Then he said,
'Who knew the queen was so shy?' I just giggled, and he continued, 'I'm Silver Gold.' He reached out to give me a handshake. I held his hand for about 3 seconds. It was, like, the best handshake of my life. Then he asked me, 'Why not use the front door?' Then I said,
'That's a good question. Most people knock on the front door, don't they?' He gave me a laugh; it called me stupid.
He looked at me like an alien. I felt like an alien. How was it possible that I didn't know how to interact with my own people. I could tell he was trying to be nice, but he looked very uncomfortable. He could barely make eye contact with me. Then, he asked me, 'Why are you here?' I decided I wouldn't play games, and just give it to him straight.
'I got up this morning and I felt very lonely. My hairdresser, Red, suggested I go out and meet people on my own. The city was too chaotic, so I flew into the forest. That's when I saw you. I thought you were handsome, so I wanted to talk to you, but I just didn't know what to say. I've never met someone without someone whispering in my ear what to say. I still don't know what to say.' I was ready to die, because I realized I had just told him that I think he's hot. I wasn't sure if that was okay. Was I supposed to be more subtle? Did he like me? I know he called me beautiful, but I've seen boys do that on TV just to be nice. Then he said,
'What you just said was perfect.' I gave a sigh of relief, and he said, 'That's good; you need to relax. You're so tense.' I realized he was right, and said,
'Sorry, it's just as I said, people are usually telling me what to say in public.' Then he said the sweetest thing to me,
'Well, there's no one whispering in your ear now. What do you want to say?' When he told me that, I felt so much joy that I wanted to cry. It was the first time I felt like my own person. I could say whatever I wanted, and it was okay. I told him exactly what was on my mind,
'I want to ask you out on a date. Would you like to go on a date with me?' He gave me the biggest smile and said,
'Only if you promise to not be too shy. You also have to tell me what you're thinking. I can't read your mind.' I nodded yes, and said,
'Okay.' I've never been so sure about anything in my life.
After we were in agreement, I told him to come over tonight, and I'd have the chefs cook us up something nice. Plus, I'd give him a tour of the castle. It's so big we'd probably be up all night. Anyway Red, I need you to come over and do my hair. I want to make sure I look perfect."
Red asked, " Where are you now, sweatie?”
"The sky? I'm flying back home. I should be back in less than five minutes."
"Okay, I'm going to hang up now. I'll call you when I get there so you can have the guards let me in."
